Q. Why are you following me?A. People join Twitter for many reasons and each have different goals. Our account, "thepodcast", is meant to serve two purposes:
- To use to communicate with listeners through @replies
- To help new users better understand Twitter by answering direct questions.
We are following you because you are new to Twitter -- either you have just signed up in the last couple of days or you have posted few than 10 times. We do not follow everyone new to Twitter, just a select few that we could identify by their posts.
We monitor our timeline of new user tweets and look for questions related to Twitter, then we respond either directly to the users via a @reply or on the show, if the question is good for discussion. By following you, we can also accept your direct messages for at least the first few days that you are new to Twitter. It is best to direct your questions to us by starting your tweet question with "@thepodcast", this will ensure we do not miss it.
After about a week we will unfollow you so we can follow more new users. Twitter has follow limits in place that does not allow us (or anyone) to follow many more users than they have following them. Please do not be offended that we unfollowed you. You are always welcome to send us your Twitter related questions whether we follow you or not.
We do not expect your to follow us back. Follow us back because you are a listener of the podcast and like to be notified about new shows, live broadcasts, and participate in discussions related to Twitter. Do not follow us out of "reciprocity" or pity. Our intention is NOT to trick people in following us by following them.
Enjoy Twitter -- it is an amzing tool that can be used in such great ways both personally and professionally.
